Dos and Don’ts in Al-Quran – 1

The subject topic will be a series of posts presenting ayahs containing a few of Allah’s orders in each post, so that readers can read, understand and try to implement these orders in their lives.  Salat/Prayers is an excellent means of reciting and repeating Allah’s ayahs. To make salat more beneficial it would serve one better if one tries to understand the ayahs containing orders of Allah,  recite them in salat and implement them in one’s life style.

Serve Allah, and do not join any thing in partnership with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, poor, neighbors who are relatives, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the son of the way, and what you possess rightfully, for Allah does not love the arrogant, the vainglorious;-

Serve Allah only, do good and be generous to parents, relatives, orphans, poor, neighbors, companions, wayfarers and those subservient to you. Don’t be arrogant and boastful in your attitude with anyone.

O’ People who believe, enter into the peace completely; and follow not the footsteps of Satan for he is an open enemy to you.

Fully immerse in peace and security. Against any situation that you encounter in life, your judgment should be the one seeking peace and security (3:19).  Satan tries to create enmity and hatred among our selves and provide means of temptation. This eternal enemy  is to be shunned all times.

Hold to pardon / excuse / overlook and order with what is recognizably (right) and turn away from the ignorant ones.

Be forgiving to people and don’t be harsh on them. Don’t engage with people who don’t have knowledge and wisdom.

Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel (evil) with what is better: then with whom was hatred between you and him, will become as if he were you friend and intimate!

Respond to aggression with goodness, the evil doer on realization of his mistake will feel guilty. Replying evil with greater evil would definitely result in deterioration of situation.

And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant ones address them, they say,”Salam/Peace!”

The servants of Al-Rehman have humility and restraint in their behavior.

Do not look (wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them. but bow your wings (in gentleness) to the believers.

Don’t eye worldly possessions and riches with wistfulness.

Those who spend  in prosperity and in adversity; who are restrainers of anger/rage, and are forgiving to people;- for Allah loves those who do good;-

Restraint of one’s anger and rage is very important. Allah loves those who forgive people and are good to them.

Satan promises you of poverty and orders you with Fahisha/shameful acts. Allah promises you His forgiveness and bounties. And Allah  is bounteous for all and He knows all things.

Whenever you fear loss of income and poverty, be cautious as it could be Satan doing his action on you, while Allah promises his benevolence on the believers.

Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by vain and frivolous talk, they pass by it with dignity;

Pass by undesirable, vain or obscene items with dignity without making undue fuss.

But if any one does a fault or a sin and then blames it on to someone innocent, He carries (on himself) a falsehood and a clear sin.

A big thing in the eyes of the Lord, to put the blame of your’s wrong doing on some one else. This will not be taken lightly by Allah, so have the courage to accept the responsibility of your actions.

Grievously odious is it in the sight of Allah is that you say something on which you yourself don’t act upon.

Allah commands justice and doing of goodness, and generosity to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion. He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition.

“And do not swell your cheeks (with pride) for people, and do not walk on earth with pageant; for Allah does not love any arrogant boaster.”

If it had been your Lord’s will, they would all have believed,- all people who are on earth! Will you then compel mankind, (against their will), until they become believers!

Faith is not to be forced on any one. People can only be invited towards the path of Allah with the best way possible and with reason and wisdom (16:125)
